Here are some fun new books that you can use to work on Ready to Read skills with your child!

Maggie's Ball by Lindsay Barrett George

Join Maggie as she travels through town looking for her ball. Kids will have fun searching for the ball and following the word "GO" as it moves across 2 page spreads mimicking the action of the ball. This book is great for toddlers working on Ready to Read skills Vocabulary (Words) and Print Awareness (Using Books).

Guess Who? by Guido van Genechten

This book is fun for preschoolers and toddlers. Each page has an animal riddle, such as "Who has a nose as long as a snake?" Lift the flap to find the answer hidden underneath. Preschoolers will love guessing the answers, and toddlers will love finding out what is under the flap. This book is fantastic for working on Ready to Read skills Print Motivation (Loving Books) and Vocabulary (Words).

Dear Baby: It's a Colorful World by Carol Casey

This rhyming book is great for learning colors. Each page focuses on a different color and different activities that go with that color - for example, "Lying in a meadow/or floating down a stream,/shady trees above me/are cool and fresh and green." The text is fun, the illustrations are adorable, but my favorite part of this book is a page that says, "Let's take a look at the colors of ME!" This page takes a moment to celebrate that we all have different skin, hair, and eye color, but that is what makes us special. What a great message to share with young children! This book is also wonderful for working on Ready to Read skills Phonological Awareness (Sounds) and Vocabulary (Words).

Dancing Feet by Lindsey Craig

This book rhymes, is repetitious, and has a great beat, making it a great choice for working on Ready to Read skill Phonological Awareness (Sounds). The text is super fun to read, and the illustrations are bright and full of movement to match the words. This book is also a guessing game, and kids will love identifying the animals' feet on each page. This book is a good choice for working on Ready to Read skills Print Motivation (Loving Books) and Vocabulary (Words).
